I\u2019m trying to make portraits that are first interesting to me. If someone else sees something in them that is a bonus. An artist, if honest, is trying to flatter himself. Everything else is a by-product.<\/p>\n

I met Henry Cooper and later Traci Lords at the same venue.\u00a0What can I say, I was a little intimidated by the sheer presence of the man. I can\u2019t recall what I exactly said at the time, though I do remember thanking\u00a0him after\u00a0I\u2019d taken my pictures. Well you would wouldn’t you?<\/p>\n

I usually tell my portrait subjects that the final image is not going to be a photograph. I can\u2019t be sure but I think they like the idea that it\u2019s not just another photo call. It\u2019s a real eye opener to see first-hand, how wearing it must be. So I\u2019m very fortunate and feel grateful when a small portion of their time is granted to me.\u00a0I’ve\u00a0been very lucky really.
