“The act of seeing is also a process of translation.”
Translation alters meaning, however slightly. My interests lie in exploring the region of repeated interpretations between the initial and the final image. Intent and effect become unrelated as the digital image data are over-written by underlying or surrounding information. I try to describe how the message/image is transformed by the medium.
I find it remarkable how digital information, with its perfect propagation, its non-ageing coherence and its apparent immunity to all degenerative processes, can be used to create results that are unique and paradoxically unpredictable. Finally the act of seeing is also a process of translation.
