‘Standing in front of Alessandro R. in front of Tamuna S. in front of…’ – 2012

“The exhibits are on display but most people are more interested in the guests. Quite a social occasion.”

Private viewings are interesting events. They are where people go to look and be seen. The exhibition is an excuse, the exhibits are on display but most people are more interested in the guests. Quite a social occasion.

What are you working on at the moment?
This piece.

Where do you work?
Within reading distance.

What do you like to read?
Labels.

Are colours linked to a mood?
Never!

Do you have an idea in mind before you start?
No.

Music has a direct reference in some of your work. Do you listen while you work?
Very rarely. When I’m occupied I find it intrusive.

How would you describe your work?
Carefully.

Is the process important or just the result?
The fee.

What is your favourite colour?
I consider colour a tool not a favourite toy. It is selected to fit the task.

What is your favourite season?
It is all an endless cycle. Something starting out is something else ending. Every point on the sequence is a new beginning. I like seasons because they change.

What star sign are you?
I know this because I had a small silver pendant given to me as a child. Hardworking, honest and creative, that one!

What was the last exhibition you attended?
Art is not just on display in galleries. It is everywhere.
